Обложили со всех сторон:Butler University was informed it’s violating U.S. civil rights by failing to spend enough money on its male athletes. Women got 53 percent of the scholarships at the Indianapolis-based school during the 2010 academic year, while comprising 37 percent of athletes.
Butler, whose men’s basketball team reached the national tournament championship game in 2010 and 2011, was told by the U.S. Department of Education to close the difference in spending on scholarships between the genders. It also was directed to get more women involved in intercollegiate sports.
The inequalities at the school in Indianapolis violate a law known as Title IX, which prohibits discrimination on the basis of gender, and which has led to growth in the number of women’s sports teams the past 40 years.
Since Butler’s undergraduate enrollment of 4,000 is 60 percent women, the school was directed to create more opportunities for them to participate in sports.
тут, конечно, прекрасно, что в одном флаконе вместе и одержимость положением университета в спортивных лигах, и безумие статистических интерпретаций равноправия
